It even says "Kaoru" in the description for the episode, so her name is not supposed to be Kori. (From what little I know of the Japanese language, this could just be a different way of pronouncing this name, but it still bothered me.) "Kaoru" was now "Kori." For me, that was the last straw. Also, Kaoru's voice was higher and more girly - making her sound rather silly during the obviously more serious scenes. In the MB version, the characters say "Battosai the Manslayer" but with the Hulu/Sony version, they say "Battusai the Slayer." This may seem insignificant, but it bothered me. I noticed it was fairly different from the version I knew and loved. I've been trying to find versions to watch, and I happened upon the one on Hulu. I saw Rurouni Kenshin when it aired on Cartoon Network and I fell in love with it. Let me tell you my experience, with some specific examples. It seems your question has generally been answered. Bad, so very bad, I wanted to take a shower after glimpsing such trash, could not get it off the screen fast enough. This was a few episodes in too, I jumped to a particular favorite episode during the Kyoto Arc. It was almost like they were only given a faint outline of what the story was about & they filled in the rest. absolute trash, & I'm not saying that just because it was dubbed, there was speaking where characters were not speaking, saying/thinking things that were never said original, a total train wreck, it was like a slap in the face for someone who knows the story so well. I should have known better seeming as it was listed as Samurai X, (which is a stupid title as Kenshin was not really a samurai, he was assassin who hid in the shadows, doing wet work for other samurai). I've watched the anime & read the manga a few times, so when I saw it was on Hulu I checked it out. I love Rurouni Kenshin, it's one of my favorite series, (but I stick with the original Japanese with subtitles).
